Welcome to our school!

St Alfege with St Peter's is a one-form entry, Church of England primary school in the heart of Greenwich.  At St Alfege’s we are committed to providing the highest quality of education possible for all, in partnership with parents and carers, within a warm and caring environment.

The School underwent a school inspection under section 5 of the Education Act 2005 on Tuesday, 22 November 2016 and was judged to continue to be a 'good' school.  We were delighted with the findings which included the following comments:

  • I was struck by the close sense of community, warmth and friendly ethos of the the school.
  • Pupils were animated by their learning and interested in their work.  This spirit of happiness and engagement is clearly a feature of the school.
  • All pupils, especially the most able disadvantages, are making more rapid progress.
  • Teachers build on pupils' prior attainment and learning and provide clear direction for next steps.

We value and respect the different abilities, cultures, languages and backgrounds of our families, and we view our diversity as a strength to be celebrated. The school enjoys a close relationship with St Alfege Church in Greenwich. The children enjoy participating in services at the church, and members of the church community visit the school on a regular basis.

  • All Church of England dioceses and the Methodist Church use the Church of England Education Office's framework for the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) under Section 48 of the Education Act 2005.  The SIAMS Evaluation Schedule sets out the expectations for the conduct of the Statutory Inspection of Anglican, Methodist and ecumenical Schools under Section 48 of the Education Act 2005 and provides a process for evaluating the extent to which church schools are 'distinctively and recognisably Christian institutions' (Lord Dearing, The Way Ahead: Church of England Schools in the New Millenium, 2001)

We are really pleased that St Alfege with St Peter's was judged to be an 'outstanding' Church school following its SIAMS inspection on 5 May 2017.
